Fixing the Cold Air Drain Hose & Reinstalling the Gas Tank

Before we put the gas tank back we had to fix the cold air box drain hose. The cold air box drain hose is behind the gas tank. it allows water to drain out of the cold air box underneath the car. The connection for the hose was broken, so we had to epoxy them back on with aluminum reinforcement. To rebuild the drain system, we used tubing from a pond supply store, which looks ALMOST like the original.

We reinstalled the gas tank level indicator. We hot glued hot pieces of carpet on to the body of the car so the gas tank would not get damaged from vibrations while driving Then my good friend Pavel and my dad lowered in the gas tank while I made sure the gas lines went through the bulkhead to the front trunk. We had to take it in and out 15 times before we had it where we wanted it to be.

It’s funny that we did all of this work and we will never see it again until we pull the gas tank in 41 years…
